Uppon closer inspection the window does not turn completely black, but rather extremely dark. I just realized that this happens for all windows placed on the external monitor (they turn extremely dark), and has nothing to do with firefox. This is a regression in plasma 6. Yet another update: when I reported the problem, I was using a hybrid graphics system (nvidia dGPU and intel iGPU) with dynamic switching (optimus). I tried disabling my iGPU and I discovered that the problem occurs on both screens, instead of just on the external monitar. So this is probably a problem related to nvidia.
