I was unable to obtain a backtrace.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch kdenlive
2. Enable hardware acceleration
3. Click Apply

OBSERVED RESULT
The startup window crashes

Which Kdenlive version ? Can you please test again ? Also where did you enable HW acceleration ? On Kdenlive's first start there is a button to "check for hardware support" ? is it this one?
