(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kcmprintmgr
Version: KDE 3.0.3
Severity: normal
Installed from: Gentoo
Compiler: gcc version 3.2
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.19-gentoo-r7
OS/Compiler notes:

I use a local cups 1.1.15 server on gentoo. added one printer via the cups web interface.

when I open the kprinter dialog it opens fine but clicking 'properties' (next to the printername) causes the dialog to hang and freeze for more than 5 minutes after that the properties dialog appears correctly.

Also: selecting the printername in KControl causes kcontrol to freeze infinitely.

The cups web interface and commandline work without problem. I already removed all access permissions from /etc/cups/cupsd.conf en my /etc/hosts also contains the local hostname. Reverse hostname lookup in cups is also off.
The problem seems to be somewhere in the interaction between kdeprint and cups.

During my fiddling there was also a moment that kdeprint worked normally when I was offline (I have a dialup link) but freezed when I was online. But now I can't reproduce that situation anymore.
