I thought I can edit and add the versions later, but I forgot that I cannot edit the report, so here is the missing part: KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.240.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 I have now uninstalled the "plasma-welcome" package to have a bit of peace and be able to actually test something, but the task bar is still for of that sad face squares, which don't go away even after logout / login. I tried to click on them to send the reports or what they were about but that's not possible and also they don't go away and looks like the entire row of them is flashing as if they are updated / recreated. My noisy laptop fan is also making a lot of noise, which rarely happens in Plasma 5.27.9 on Debian as the CPU usage there in idle is between 0.5% - 5%, while here in idle is fluctuating a lot between 10% - 55%, which seems to explain all the noise from the fan. In the process list, there seems to be a lot of "drkonqi" and "drkonqui-coredump-launcher", which I assume it explains why there are so many sad face squares on the task bar. If something crashed, we need a backtrace of it so we can figure out what's going on. Can you please attach a backtrace of the crash using the coredumpctl command-line program, as detailed in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl? Thanks! *** Bug 476779 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** you can manage to open the konsole and sudo apt remove welcome-center this may be the only way of getting rid of this Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. Created attachment 162963 [details] The Welcome Center keeps reopening SUMMARY *** Welcome Center keeps opening and crashing *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download KDE Neon (Unstable Edition) 2. Put it on a USB flash drive and boot it 3. Wait to fully boot 4. [Optional] Complete the Welcome Center OBSERVED RESULT As soon as the OS boots up the there's a window: Title: plasmashell -- Crash Handler Content: We are sorry, plasmashell closed unexpectedly... And two buttons below to send automatic report and see developer information Behind it, there's the window of the Welcome Center You can get rid of the first window by moving it or closing it so you can have the Welcome screen in focus. I completed the steps on it by clicking Next -> Next ... -> Finish over 10 times but, it doesn't matter, it keeps reopening. It seems that it doesn't matter if you finish it or how many times and gave me the impression that even if you don't do any thing with it, it keeps trying to open another time. The task bar keeps getting filled with that sad face square. EXPECTED RESULT No crash as soon as the OS boots up No opening / reopening of the Welcome center if I haven't even touched it. No reopening after I just completed it. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Plasma 6 alpha (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: ? KDE Frameworks Version: ? Qt Version: ? ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I tried boot in UEFI and non-UEFI mode. I tried the Wayland session and it's the same behavior (BTW, with that "auto-relogin", is a pain to logout and switch to Wayland). I tried connecting to Wi-Fi and it's the same behavior (BTW, it's very hard to connect to Wi-FI in the current conditions). Please see the attached printscreen! Tested: neon-unstable-20231107-1001.iso On: Dell Inspiron 5770 - CPU: i5-8250U, iGPU: UHD 620, 8GB of RAM No ethernet cable! Thank you!
