It's not possible to configure a keyboard shortcut for open with file manager.
Whatever the combination I use it will not open file explorer.
Using the right click menu is fine.

Item/Open With Default application as configurable short cut. It's digiKam action menu.

Open With popup menu actions come from Desktop settings, not digiKam. If shortcuts can be configured, they must be global shortcut, not application specific ones.

For ex, under Linux Plasma desktop config panel has a large shortcuts section (i don't know if Open With actions can be configured here).

For Windows, no idea too (doc: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/keyboard-shortcuts-in-windows-dcc61a57-8ff0-cffe-9796-cb9706c75eec)

In other words, there is nothing possible to tune in digiKam about this topic.
