Project file
It was to large to attach as a file so I have added a link to the file on dropbox.
Could it be that Kdenlive loads all the clips into memory and the memory runs out? It seems to certainly be connected to the number (or size) of clips in the project. I started the latest back up that I could (which was after I input all the clips), and if I remove a majority of them, say 80%, I can edit without kdenlive crashing. The latest update seems to have solved this issue. |
Created attachment 162286 [details] Backtrace SUMMARY The project crashes on startup, regardless of reseting the configuration file or not. The project is large and contains several hundred files with a summarised file size of around 45gb. Proxy clips seems to not make a difference. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open project 2. Wait 3. Crash OBSERVED RESULT Project crashes. EXPECTED RESULT Project opens. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux Mint Vera 21.1 - XCFE KDENLIVE 23.08.01 Flatpack ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have used Kdenlive for several years now, but I find i works better with smaller projects (smaller projects = fewer clips). Now I tried to do a bigger project, where I thought I'd try out the new sequence function. I use clips filmed with my phone, which can't film with fixed framerate, and I don't feel that converting every clip really works for me (takes a lot of time and space), so I edit with variable framerate. At first the project worked just fine. I could add the first clips to the timeline, but when I added some effects and/or titles it crashed. I have reverted back to earlier versions of the projects two times and it has crashed about 10 minutes in the editing process (2-3 clips on the timeline and 1-4 effects/titleclips). After it crashes I cant open it and I must go back to a backup before effects/title clips. Even though there seems to be a lot of focus on effects/titles clips I still have the feeling that it's more due to the size of the projects (number of clips) since this usually works fine in my projects of usual size (maybe 50-100 clips 10-20gb)
