SUMMARY

From time to time, rendering of windows stack in the wrong order. A window told to go to the front will go to the back. The only way to get it to the front is to close or minimise other windows.

The window in front does not receive clicks, clicks to to the window behind, then one that should be at the front.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Wait (it just seems no happen from time to time).
2. Tell window to come to front (left click title)
3. 

OBSERVED RESULT
Window appears below other windows (does to back)
But clicks seem to go to window that should be in front

EXPECTED RESULT
Window should go to front

Do you have the "Slide Back" effect enabled?

Yes. Slide back is enabled.

I have just this second turned it off, and I will see if anything changes.

It has been a few days with Slide back disabled, and no problems.

However, why did it cause the problem. I can live without it, but will it cause problems for others?
Is it a hardware compatibility problem? 
What changed, it worked before (an earlier version, before I upgraded my debian: I had used it in the past. Not all the time, but sometimes.)
