Description Max Mantel 2023-09-26 16:00:34 UTC
SUMMARY
When using a Laptop with changing docking stations or adding monitors or projectors, new screens are usually setup with the default background and without widgets/control panels. The user has to configure every new screen manually. It would be much more comfortable if the user could just configure one screen desktop and select that one as default.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. configure your laptop desktop
2. connect to an additional monitor

OBSERVED RESULT
The new monitor has the default desktop background and no control panel.

WANTED RESULT
The new monitor has the same desktop background and control panel as my main desktop.

ALTERNATIVES
Alternatively there could be a switch between having multiple desktop configurations or just one for all screens (not mirroring windows, just the desktops and widgets/control panels).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

If we duplicated everything from the old desktop, the results would probably not meet your expectations. :) All your desktop files would be duplicated, Notifications would appear in a random place since there are two notifications widgets, and other random-seeming shenanigans would happen.

What about some kind of Desktop or Control panel Template, that y can define and apply easily?
