SUMMARY
***
I am trying to use the IMPORT tool to import photos from my iPhone to my digiKam albums. My photos and database or on an Network Attached Storage (NAS) and I am using MySQL Server. Import on my computer does not recognize my iPhone while it does recognize other cameras (e.g., my Nikon DSLR).
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect iPhone and "allow access" for my computer. As a result I can see the folder with photos on my computer in the folder This PC\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM
2. I open IMPORT > Add Camera > Auto-Detect

OBSERVED RESULT
The iPhone and images on the iPhone are not detected by digiKam.
My workaround is to manually copy images from iPhone to albums and then let digiKam discover them later in a refresh. But it would be easier for me to use the import feature

Thanks for referring me to the thread in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388137. What I learn from going through this problem is that gPhoto on Windows may simply not be able to import from iPhone. Not a problem, as I can copy manually.
