what happens?
it always opens a new window of dolphin

what should happen?
always open a new tab. This isnt windows Explorer, Dolphin is made for tabs.

I think there is a CLI option for that? Could this be implemented somehow?

Dolphin has an "Open new folders in tabs" option you can use if you'd like to do this.

This fixed it! thanks. I would think this should be default, as Dolphin is tab-based?

We've gone back and forth on this. There are pros and cons to both approaches. I trust the Dolphin maintainers  with respect to what the default setting is currently set to.
