SUMMARY
Closing the current session kills all applications, it would be useful to have the option to gracefully close them instead.

Are you on X11 or Wayland?

On X11 we already do this, and it's up to apps to respond correctly. If an app doesn't, that's on them.

On Wayland we currently don't do this because there's no standard protocol for it. This is a known showstopper; see Bug 461176.
