Widgets in MacOS 14 "Sonoma" when they are not 'active' are blurred and more transparent so that they are not as distracting
If we did this, the ability to use widgets to convey at-a-glance information would be degraded or destroyed. I don't think it's a good idea to do this. More generally, check out https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Design/Frequently_Discussed_Topics#Copying_other_platforms. |
Created attachment 160384 [details] widget background KDE SUMMARY Apple presented the incredible and before unheard idea of desktop widgets in MacOS 14 "Sonoma". Well, that nothing new for KDE! However, the makers of the golden cage had some good ideas that widgets on KDE could also benefit from IHMO. DESIGN & SUGGESTION The widgets on MacOS are blurred when they are not the 'active' window. That way they are less distracting and are more 'reserved' in the background. Widgets on KDE currently do not do that. This can make them more distracting if they show a lot of information that changes constantly (eg. clock with seconds, system status with temperature etc.) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This would make a great feature for Plasma 6 to clearly set it apart. (I hope the product + component sorting is correct. I copied it from a bug that included widgets. if it's in the wrong category please move it :) )
