STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Arch Linux with minimum packages on a machine (I used ThinkPad T440s if that matters)
2. Set it up
3. Try using it for longer and eventually two strange things with start happening:
  - Authentication will fail, when doing sudo, or sudo -i, even when copy-pasting the correct password
  - Characters will start repeating itself while typing i.e. when you click e once 5x e will appear. It seems to not consistent with all letters and is probably pseudorandom. Funnily enough, when connected thru rustdesk the same thing happens as if I was using the physical keyboard, so it's definitely a KDE issue.

OBSERVED RESULT
  - Authentication will fail, when doing sudo, or sudo -i, even when copy-pasting the correct password
  - Characters will start repeating itself while typing i.e. when you click e once 5x e will appear. It seems to not consistent with all letters and is probably pseudorandom. Funnily enough, when connected thru rustdesk the same thing happens as if I was using the physical keyboard, so it's definitely a KDE issue.

EXPECTED RESULT
- Authentication succeeds each time when typing correctly and copy-pasting the password
- Single typed characters are not being multiplied

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: approx. 1-2 week old
KDE Frameworks Version: approx. 1-2 week old
Qt Version: approx. 1-2 week old

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
How do you debug this? I probably need to deliver more information, but I'm not sure which one do you actually need. Funnily enough the bugs get fixed by a reboot, but that can't a be permanent solution...

I recently updated my OS and looking whether this persists or it was fixed.

Would you be able to provide what version of Konsole you are using (Help -> About Konsole) and some basic system information? (System Settings -> About this System)
Comment 2 superkaimietis 2023-06-24 14:07:46 UTC
Apparently not anymore since I already updated the OS and all packages, still waiting for this bug to occur again.

Please note that the character duplication is not only on Konsole, but on the whole of KDE DE it seems...

I would appreciate what debugging/logging steps should be taken, when that occurs again.

Rebooting is clearly a solution, but it may be impossible to reboot when working on important stuff.
