Description Andras Soltesz 2023-06-07 08:55:36 UTC
SUMMARY

I cannot use Kate on macOS 13.3 because the installed application is not in notarized form and my company laptop is locked to use only applications that are notarized.

I cannot use the "Open Anyway" button in System Settings because the laptop is locked to "App store and identified developers" setting.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select the "App store and identified developers" deployment setting in System Settings
2. Install Kate
3. Try to start it up

OBSERVED RESULT

Application doesn't start.

Error message: “kate” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

EXPECTED RESULT

Application starts up

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

macOS: 13.3.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am a Linux user normally but I regularly get Macbooks from work.
On macOS, I would like to use the same Linux software I am used to and Kate is one of the core applications I use all the time.

Same for me,
Normally I used the Kate editor provided by HomeBrew which works much better than the versions found on the C.I, but I went back to MacPorts to package on Apple Silicon QElectroTech and also tried compiling Digikam too, so I deleted HomeBrew and its packages.
A Notarized DMG arm64 would be nice.

I think that is very unlikely to happen if nobody steps up to help getting that as kde infrastructure.
Comment 3 michael 2024-12-19 16:57:37 UTC
Seems the infrastructure is now in place to notarize. KDiff3 just authorized its use for 1.11 and 1.12 and the CI passes with notarization active. The config is here:
