Good morning,
the use of the fingerprint generator is very long.
CPU consumption is practically non-existent (using gkrellm).
50,000 photos to process takes about twenty hours.
The use of several CPUs altogether would be desirable.
Please consider my request.
My PC, LINUX (MAGEIA8) is multipro I7/64Bits (8 procs),

I can't reproduce it, see this bug report Bug 464769. For this user it takes a little over a minute for 12000 images. Are you really on digiKam-8.0.0? Please create a log from the terminal as described here:
