what reported here involves a digikam 8.0 installation via dmg file on a macbook air 2019 with mac Os 10.15.7 

To quit light-board or the editor while in full-screen mode leads to immediate freezing. DigiKam can be still shut down by command-Q, but nothing else is possible. No freezing takes place by quitting light board or the editor in normal screen mode.

yes this problem is know and id due to Qt framework.
