The add event button will open your default calendar for the "text/calendar" mimetype (https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/applets/digital-clock/plugin/applicationintegration.cpp#L11) could you check in your preferred application settings what is your default calendar application? For some reason neither of them were at the top of the list. When I removed Kalendar from the rank entirely, I got korganizer to open it.
