If I want to quickly find something in the current directory it would be easier if I didn't have to weed out things in sub-directories.

When clicking ctrl+f it opens the search bar.  I can then type the name of something I am searching for.  It is very fast, but it pulls up unrelated folders to the current directory I am in, if I am only interested in finding something in the current directory and not sub-directories.  Needs an additional check box or something for that filter.

There is a "Filter" feature you can find in the menu. It does what you want. I agree that one might expect this to be another setting within the search instead, but this isn't the case currently.

Interesting, well that is good the feature exists.  Hopefully it can be placed some where a dummy like me can find...haha.  I tried to find it and to be completely honestly I looked again and I still don't see it.

It is not that hidden, but among all the other actions one can certainly miss it. Please check out the image I attached in the previous comment. I drew arrows pointing to the button.

For the future you might be interested in the "Find Action" button within the "Help" menu. It can be used to find features by name.

Oh I see, thanks for showing me that.  I think I saw that, but I am not really sure how am I supposed to use this to get only the directories/files that I am currently in and not files/directories for sub-directories?

Seems like a "Include only current directory files" or "Include sub-directories" would be better?  Plenty of room below the search box in that toolbar.

Is this a regex feature or something? 

Oh that "Help" menu item is handy thanks for pointing that out.  Never used that before.
