It would be nice if the editor didn't care at all if the document was saved or not. It should just keep all reference to the files in its own directory and only delete those if the user closes the tab.

So for example, if I have 5 unsaved documents open, I can close Kate and if I have the "restore previous session" enabled then it should just re-load those 5 unsaved documents.

Saving sessions is nice if you want to restore a previous working environment, but this is useful if you want to just quickly dump some text and restore it. Almost as your code note pad where saving the code might not be useful, but having it auto saved in Kate would be.

Open settings, and check "Sessions" -> Automatically Save and Restore -> Newly created unsaved files

Headsup: There is an unfixed bug about this where a "tab" isn't created for untitled docs, instead you need to open the document from the "Documents" sidebar upon restart.

Are you saying if you open kate and just click the new document button and then close Kate it should not nag you about saving a file, and then it will restore that unsaved "buffer/file"?

Because I am currently not having this experience.

Thanks

Yes. There is another option below the one I mentioned in my prev comment, check that.

I have looked at "Session" I have everything checked and I do not have this experience.

Kate version 22.12.3

Is it in an upgraded version?
