The problem cannot be reproduced here, I use the text tool more often. Please create a GDB backtrace of the crash, without this backtrace we can't help.

Since we are getting several strange crashes with the Ubuntu digiKam-8.0.0-Beta1, this version seems to be broken. Please try our AppImage to see if the problem can be reproduced with it.

Thanks for your answer.

The Appimage works fine. No crashes with 'insert text'.

BTW: showfoto (8.0.0-beta1) in kubuntu 23.04 suffers from the same bug.

I hope the good folks at (K)ubuntu will update to 8.0.0 soon!

Thanks for the backtrace. The crash in spellchecker deconstructor is fixed in the release version of digiKam-8.0.0.
