In Windows 7, I assume you're trying to do something similar to how the Snip tool makes all screens white. ;-/ Do you happen to have an Nvidia Optimus laptop? I recently got another bug report showing a similar effect where colors get washed out. The reporter said they have an Nvidia Optimus laptop, but the effect only happened when they were using their Intel GPU. This is not intentional. I can only assume it's a driver bug because it didn't used to happen and has never happened to me. BTW, I use AMD graphics. I never seen anything about Nvidia Optimus before, so I can't answer that question. I did notice that under the same user account in Wayland, Spectacle works fine. I tested the same process on my ZBook 17 G4 and G6, both with Nvida cards and having the same issue. I also have a Probook G9 running all AMD and no issues with Spectacle. This seems to be a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469022. I may have to reopen the original bug report if this turns out to actually be a Spectacle issue, but I currently think it's a driver issue. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 469022 *** Yes, it smells of Nvidia. My AMD laptop doesn't have this issue, but again, on the same system in Wayland it works like normal. My other complaint about Spectacle. After selecting a rectangular region and then hitting the esc key, the app now closes and I have to reopen it. In the previous version it would stay open. Please submit additional bug reports about different issues/complaints. Created attachment 158885 [details]

Removed nvidia driver, but same issue.

The bug report I marked this a duplicate of said this happened with Intel, but not Nvidia. My assumption so far is that this is a dual GPU setup issue, but not necessarily just an Nvidia issue. Yes, I agree. 3 of my laptops are dual GPU. The ZBook 17 G2 (oldy, but goody) is not having the issue, but my G4 and G6 are. |
