Folder aware is explained in the documentation and Random is unique string/numbering. ----- In the sequence Number dialog you will find two options: Extension aware numbering and Folder aware numbering. If they are checked digiKam will start a new sequence for every file extension and / or folder. ----- Maik I assume you don't mean Folder aware numbering, but Counter aware numbering. Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the filename in the image's directory and continues it. Random aware numbering is pretty self-explanatory, but my main issue is that counter-aware numbering is unclear and I could not find any explanation on how it works. It would be great if you could add that exact explanation to the docs: "Counter aware numbering searches for the highest used counter in the filename in the image's directory and continues it." What"s the purpose of this rule ? Gilles Hi Gilles, This was a user wish to have a random numeric code for the numbering. It is a random number with up to 31 digits created by QUuid. It is clear that with e.g. "##" there is still no random sequence, with more "#" it becomes more and more unique. Maik Small correction, it's a hexadecimal random string.
