SUMMARY
in version 7.10 and earlier reverse GeoCoding resulted in tags for country, city, straat and so on. They were visible in the Property tab under DigiKam properties.

Expand the option in reverse Geolocation and choose where to write the information. Either as normal tags (old behavior) or in the geolocation metadata. This is new from digiKam-8.0.0.
