Description Narcis Garcia 2023-04-06 08:01:59 UTC
SUMMARY
When many proxy build jobs are queued, application interface does not respond and desktop environment considers it as frozen (eg. Gnome).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. New project (proxies enabled by default)
2. Drag 25 MP4 files to project bin.
3. Save project soon

OBSERVED RESULT
After few clips completed [P], next renders do not progress and GUI is not responding.
After killing Kdenlive, on next run it says there is something to recover. On project load, it contains corrupted items called "blue" as color clips. Some incomplete proxies are detected as corrupted, and Kdenlive offers to render their proxy in other formats.

A workaround is to create new project, and add one-by-one video file after each proxy render is completed.

EXPECTED RESULT
Stable render jobs queue, and to be able to add any number of clips at once.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Debian GNU/Linux 11 (Stable/amd64) + Gnome

Some rewrite to the proxy job happens. Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 23.08.4 to see if it works now https://kdenlive.org/en/download/

Version 23.08.4 is not working for me. Tested with 2023.04.2 with no better result.

I can't test it with newer Kdenlive versions due to be using Debian GNU/Linux 11:

I think this is connected; Not Responding during Proxy Generation.

However, I'm using the Windows version. The proxy generation completes but Kdenlive shows Not Responding. I noticed this with the nightly builds before the following version where this bug has occurred.

Kdenlive 24.05.2

Acer Swift 1 | Intel Pentium Quad Core Processor N3710 @ 1.60 GHz | Intel HD Graphics | eMMC 64GB | 4GB DDR3 L Memory | 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows 10 | 22H2 | 19045.4651

I'm having the same issue, Windows 10, 25.07.70 daily build kdenlive-master-10489-windows-gcc-x86_64.exe

Even just adding 2 videos often crashes.

What type of video do you put into the project bin:
-	Length of the video?
-	Which codec?
-	How many audio streams?
-	Does Kdenlive run out of memory and then crashes?
-	Is Kdenlive crashing when you put the videos to the project bin or from the project bin to the timeline?
Comment 7 Narcis Garcia 2025-06-18 12:07:35 UTC
As asked by emohr:
-	Length of the video? Last test was with 80' per clip
-	Which codec? Already described in bug report.
-	How many audio streams? Last test was with single stereo track.
-	Does Kdenlive run out of memory and then crashes? Not my case.
-	Is Kdenlive crashing when you put the videos to the project bin or from the project bin to the timeline? Already described in bug report.

Thank you @narcis for the information. With which Kdenlive version do you have made this last test?

The questions were for @Die4ever

Can't you reproduce issue with current version?
