Description wattumchu 2023-03-04 15:50:12 UTC
SUMMARY
Starting with 7.8 (I believe) the detailed progress indicator in the status area of the main window pops open for every action. You can twiddle it closed, but if you run another long running action it will pop open again. I believe it used to remember your preference (open or closed) and did not open by itself in 7.7

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Perform any long running action (e.g. scan for new items, scan for faces, recognize faces, tag large number of photos)
2. Detailed progress twiddler will twiddle open
3. Close twiddler with the arrow button
4. Repeat to #1

OBSERVED RESULT
Detailed status twiddles open on long running tasks despite being closed previously.

EXPECTED RESULT
If I twiddle status closed it should stay closed. If I twiddle status open it should stay open.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Win 10 64bit
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0
Qt Version: 5.15.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I believe this stopped working in 7.8 but have not confirmed the exact version.

Nothing has changed in the behavior. just click on the reduced/enlarged arrow. The current status is retained. Note that even in the inactive progress bar state, the reduced/enlarged status is toggled with a click.

@randy.wolf@gmail.com,

This problem still reproducible with the new digiKam 8.2.0 pre-release Windows
installer available at usual place:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

This new bundle is based on last Qt framework 5.15.11 and KDE framework 5.110.

Thanks in advance

This is working fine now for me on Windows using both the released 8.1 and
the pre-release 8.2. Thanks!
