Description Alex 2023-03-03 11:22:10 UTC
I am using the Nvidia 525 driver, Plasma 5.27.2 and the 5.17oem kernel on Kubuntu 22.10. When logging in to a Wayland session, the mouse lags severely on the monitor with the Plasma panel (it does not lag on an external monitor without the panel). The lag is worse when moving the mouse up/down instead of left/right. Also, at the same time as moving the mouse, a black bar (some sort of graphical corruption) is displayed on the Plasma panel. I'm not sure if this bug is caused by the Nvidia driver, something on KDE's side, or a combination of both.
Comment 1 Alex 2023-03-03 18:00:21 UTC
UPDATE: This bug only manifests when running at 1920x1200 resolution. When running at 1920x1080p the desktop behaves much more normally. So it is related to the aspect ratio.
Comment 2 Alex 2023-04-22 20:10:48 UTC
Any updates on a fix? This bug is very annoying and screens with taller aspect ratios are now more common.
Comment 3 David Edmundson 2023-06-01 11:39:07 UTC
I'm afraid we can't reproduce nor think of anything our side which could be relevant to this.

There isn't enough information to do anything actionable.

Please confirm if the framerate and scale is the same and only the resolution seems to make a difference. Is any other process using CPU?

Are there any logs in journald that look relevant?

Can you also include the output of
`weston-simple-egl`

and waiting for 10 seconds to produce output
