STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click either "Start Kate (no arguments)" or "New Kate Session", a text input box is shown for the Session name
2. Start typing the session name you want

OBSERVED RESULT
Typing goes into the Search box at the top causing the new session box to disappear

EXPECTED RESULT
Typing the name goes into the Session name box, and then pressing Enter launches the session

This all seems OK now using the Kate Sessions entry in the System Tray
