Task manager settings

SUMMARY

This is new with 5.27. In the task manager, having multiple applications open sometimes results in one or more of those applications needing to be double- or triple-clicked to be raised.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a panel with the task manager. Open multiple windows from different applications (firefox, terminal, gimp, etc).
2. Try using the task manager to change between these applications. Sometimes, one or more of these windows will end up needing to be double- or triple-clicked to raise the window.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.1.12-arch1-1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a weird bug. I use wayland with multiple monitors, and the open-source AMD driver included with Linux. Dolphin seems more likely to be affected, but I've seen it with Konsole as well. The affected window is "sticky", that is, once it has the problem, it stays with that window, until I move it to another desktop. When I do this, another window picks up this behaviour.

See the screenshot for my task manager settings. Note that this panel/task manager is on a non-primary monitor, but I've seen it on the task manager for my primary monitor, too.

I took the liberty of marking the severity as major, since it's a pretty big usability issue - it's not rare, at least for me.

Small update on this - using the scroll wheel to select windows is 100% reliable, so it's an issue with clicking specifically.

Another update, sorry for the spam - right-clicking on the panel also needs a couple of attempts before working.

Cannot reproduce with single screen, but I don't have external monitors to test for now. Does the bug exist when your external monitor is disabled?

Yes, I just experimented with disabling one of my external monitors (it's a desktop) and it still happens.

Do you use activities?

Nope - is there something related to activities you want me to try?
Comment 7 Fushan Wen 2023-02-18 03:31:30 UTC
There are some known bugs when using activities. Double/Triple click to activate a task looks like the panel was losing focus. Does the bug also exist on X11?

Not as far as I can tell, no - I did the usual test of opening up a pile of windows and clicking around. It's possible that it's simply much less common with X11 though.

Have the same problem, which I reported, not seeing this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465979

There I have attached two videos showcasing the problem.

Please mark my bug as duplicate, if needed.
