It seems that since 5.27 rewrite it's not possible to arrange screens, so that one of them overlaps the other.
Is it an intentional simplification? It was useful in my case, since my "desk" is small, and if I chose to keep laptop lid up (for wifi strength) it would be possible to sacrifice a small chunk of space for smoother transition. And gain extra space at little cost.

This was an intentional change, yeah. Allowing screen overlap was a major contributor to lots of bugs.

You can still physically overlap your screens, but the UI won't support this so you'll have to arrange the visual screens to be adjacent.
