SUMMARY

You used to be able to open folders directly in Kate when launching, such as from Dolphin or from the terminal.

You can't do that anymore.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
`$ kate PathToMyFolder`

Or right click in Dolphin on a directory and "Open Folder With" Kate.


OBSERVED RESULT
Kate opens in the last project folder with which it was used, not the folder given to it on launch.


EXPECTED RESULT
Kate launches directly with the given folder as the active project.

This is what happens with Kate 22.08.3 from the NixOS 22.11 Nix channel.

Is the setting:

Configure -> Projects -> "Restore Open Projects" 

checked? If it is, does it work if you disable it?

That was fixed with 87314996fe8c95e1dffb5b0a7f341bf183bc4de9, for 22.12, disabling "Restore Open Projects"  might mitigate it.
