SUMMARY
If I switch from the default TTY to something else while linux is booting and then switch back to the default TTY where the graphical interface loads on startup, KDE will fail to load, getting stuck in the KDE splash screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Turn on the computer.
2. Once the linux kernel has started loading but before KDE starts to load, switch to a different TTY.
3. Wait a while (sufficiently long enough for KDE to load fully).
4. Switch to the initial TTY.

OBSERVED RESULT
KDE is stuck in the loading screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should have logged in successfully and have a graphical environment ready to use.

Does it still happen if you disable the Plasma splash screen using System Settings > Appearance > Splash Screen > None?

There is no issue if I disable the splash screen. It initially shows a black screen with just the mouse pointer after I switch back to the first TTY, but after <1s, plasma starts correctly.

One thing though: when I do this TTY switching with the splash screen disabled, once plasma loads, it will not show the usual keyboard layout indicator.

Aha, we fixed this for Plasma 6.3
