SUMMARY
When opening new applications, the size of the currently open tasks begin to shrink, even with sufficient panel space.

2. Enter edit mode of new panel
3. Hover over the Icon-only Task Manager and click Show Alternatives
4. Select Task Manager
5. Open one application and measure the width of the new task on the panel
6. Open another application and measure the width of both of the tasks that were opened.

OBSERVED RESULT
The width of the icons begin to shrink as more windows are added.

The width will stay the same until there is no longer room on the panel, and then begin to shrink the width of the tasks.

Interestingly, I cannot reproduce this on another system with the same software stack. The only difference is that the troublesome machine is using the proprietary Nvidia driver (525.60.11) running with XOrg. While the other computer is using Mesa drivers (22.2.3) for the Intel UHD 620. The behavior is correct with both XOrg and Wayland for the Intel system.

Thank you for the bug report, and I'm sorry we weren't able to look into it yet. A lot has changed since it was reported; can I ask you to see if this is still an issue with Plasma 6.5 or later? Thanks a lot!
