Thanks, if reverting the driver fixes it, it does sounds like it's on NVIDIA's side. Let's see what they say. Reopening as there's no answer from Nvidia. Tried 525.85.05 and my desktop is still broken. Surprisingly wayland session of plasma doesn't slow down to a crawl if screen is closed and I consider it unaffected. However it seems that my external screen runs at 60 Hz even though control panel says it's running at 165 Hz, so that's a no go for me. Not sure if it belongs to kwin, as even with compositing disabled on xorg animations from inside windows lag. nvidia driver is proprietary, if something's wrong with it, only nvidia can handle it. This sucks, but it's understandable. > there's no answer from Nvidia
If the vendor who you paid money to won't respond to your support requests, it might be time to consider a different vendor.
True, my next purchase will be all AMD, unless Intel releases something compelling by that time, but for now there's no reason to upgrade, apart from being stuck on a driver from last year, which for now is just a line in pacman.conf. |
