GTK apps' (from different sources) style reset to Adwaita until I apply a different theme then reapply Breeze (or any other theme I want).

system:
Operating System: KDE neon 5.26

In System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Background services, is "GNOME/GTK settings synchronization service" running?

Yes, enabled and running.

Have you done any custom theming work at all? Changed any defaults?

No, I only have some gtk, plasma and icon themes from store.kde.org afair

So in System Settings > Appearance > Application Style > Configure GTK/GNOME Application Style, is the "GTK Style" combobox reset to "Adwaita" on every login? Or does it continue to show the name of the theme yo want to use, but that theme isn't actually applied?

yes, it shows the correct name but doesn't apply it

It sounds like something else is resetting it and not telling us, and it's doing this after kde-gtk-config has set it itself.

What kind of 3rd-party software do you have installed on this machine?

 what would be relevant for this? I install from the base sources from Neon/Flathub and rarely manually, compiling or from PPAs.
