SUMMARY
Zoom should include an option for carat tracking as sometimes when trying to search on application menu or when typing somewhere Zoom focus does not shift. Which can sometimes lead to bad user experience so carat tracking could make things better especially for people with Visual Impairment

That said also please include option to disable carat tracking as sometimes keyboard actions could triger Zoom to shift focus without the user actually intending.

Several years later...

The zoom effect configuration now (my systemsettings git master about currently reporting version 6.2.80, but the options have been there for awhile) includes both enable focus tracking and enable text cursor tracking (aka carat), as checkbox options.

While I'm just a kde/plasma user (not a dev), I'm cautiously taking the liberty to set this resolved/fixed based on that. If you believe those options don't do what you need, please reopen and further describe as appropriate.

(Found this bug while reviewing existing bugs while preparing to file an also zoom related but otherwise unrelated wishlist bug.)
