OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam allows sorting by creation date or modification date. Although this helps a little, the really interesting feature would be to sort by original shot date. I mean, by the date recorded in the Exif tags.

EXPECTED RESULT
IMHO that should be supported and the default sorting order.

The digiKam creation date is 99% the Exif.Photo.DateTimeOriginal date. Only if it's not available or another (XMP) metadata datum might be more accurate. If no metadata date is available, the file date is used.

I didn't realize some of those pictures didn't have Exif data.
