Works here with no problems. The import dialog is designed for importing memory cards / USB / cameras. If the source directory contains many images and sub-albums, the import dialog will take a while to fully capture the content. As long as no selection of images is possible, just wait a bit until the animation in the toolbar has stopped. Otherwise you can copy/paste images from Explorer.
