journal at the time of taskbar freeze
Task bar froze again. This time, I was simply taking screen shots with screengrab for a short document. More clues... I use KDEconnect to my phone. When the bar froze, a patch appeared over the other windows. It was about the same size and location as notifications I often see from the phone; but the content had not yet painted. Looked like the contents of underlying window(s), and never changed. Continued to get screen shots, ignoring the task bar and patch. Oh... every Save of screenshots took 50 seconds each before the file selector disappeared -- may be related or not? After saving my document, I used xkill on the patch -- it immediately disappeared, along with the task bar and desktop which is now solid black and unresponsive to mouse clicks.
