If everything works as expected then keyboard shows when pressing input field. Problem is, when input field is selected and keyboard does not get shown or i . There is no way to bring it up for typing (neither swipe gesture or clicking on widget).

Use case - touchscreen with (for some reason) problematic app - Firefox at this moment (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460537)
 - i do not get keyboard automatically when input field is pressed and i do not have way to show the keyboard

The issue with Firefox is fixed as of Plasma 5.26, to be released tomorrow.

Aside from Firefox, are there other problematic apps?

Ok, then I think we don't need this. In general we want to fix things so they work automatically, not add workarounds for our own bugs. :)
