Description redbeesraae 2022-10-21 06:57:35 UTC
SUMMARY

The file selector dialog that appears when you right-click a clip in the Project Bin and press "Replace Clip" is limited to only display files of supported types; this is done through reading the file's extension, but only lowercase file extensions are detected. For example, an MP4 file named "file.MP4" will not appear, but "file.mp4" will. This is particularly urgent as many digital cameras use the uppercase file extension by default.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a file of a type supported by Kdenlive with an uppercase file extension (eg .MP4)
2. Right-click on a clip in the Project Bin, select "Replace Clip", and navigate to the directory where the file is located.

OBSERVED RESULT
The file with the uppercase extension is not displayed.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file with the uppercase extension should be displayed.

Was not able to reproduce this with kdenlive-22.08.2-372-linux-64-gcc.AppImage - I was able to see .MP4 files in the Replace Clip dialog. Can you give more info on your environment? Does the regular Add Clip file dialog show .MP4 when the Replace Clip dialog does not?

I actually just reverted to the 22.08.2 AppImage after experiencing render crashes on 22.08.3 from the Arch repos, and am noticing that a lot of UI elements are different including this dialog, which now shows all supported files correctly. So it seems to be from something which is present in the Arch package (at least on my system) but not in the AppImage.
