SUMMARY

Under System Settings > Audio, it's not possible to disable a microphone without also disabling the audio output that it's associated with.

See attached screenshot; I would like to eliminate "Microphone (USB Audio Device Mono)" as an option from the system tray audio widget; however, doing so ALSO eliminates "Speakers (USB Audio Device Stereo)", which is incorrect.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.04
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

It is possible for many devices to select a profile with just the output (or the input) of the card, which effectively disables and hides the microphone settings for it.

Maybe that isn't possible for your device? In that case you can always mute just the input or the output independently, but I get it is less convenient.

Unfortunately the screenshot didn't get attached. If you can, please try again and upload the screenshot with the Profile selector.
