SUMMARY
With the update to Plasma 5.26, a new widget style was introduced so that the widget shows the title and the album art, at least when it is placed directly on the panel. This is, however, entirely unwanted. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place the widget directly on the panel

OBSERVED RESULT
Album art and title are shown.

EXPECTED RESULT
The widget stays unchanged and keeps the same behaviour as in previous Plasma versions.

Something I haven't mentioned in the original message is that the ideal scenario would be to have an option to toggle between the two versions.
