Description David Warner 2022-10-13 08:17:52 UTC
SUMMARY
Dragging and dropping files from Dolphin to Wine applications causes the applications to crash.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Drag and drop files from Dolphin to foobar2000 or Mp3tag running under Wine.

OBSERVED RESULT
The application freezes.
Wine logs `double free or corruption (!prev)`.

EXPECTED RESULT
The application accepts the files.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 36 (Kernel 5.19.14)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The crash doesn't happen all the time with every file.

Dragging and dropping the same files from Thunar works.

Here's another report from June 2022 for the same thing in CUETools: https://www.reddit.com/r/ManjaroLinux/comments/vinhor/wine_program_keeps_freezing_after_recent_update/

This seems to be fixed in 22.08.2.
Comment 2 David Warner 2022-10-29 01:28:01 UTC
Sorry, spoke too soon - it's still occurring.
Comment 3 Attila Schler 2022-11-14 21:48:07 UTC
I have the same problem with Wine 7.20.
But everything works correctly for me with Wine v7.2 on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, so probably this will be a Wine bug.
Comment 4 David Warner 2024-06-20 10:12:56 UTC
I haven't had this happen for some time - currently running Wine 9.5 (Staging).
