Noticed this happening myself so I can confirm this. It only happens when Liquify is in Fast preview mode. Changed the title of the bug report to be more descriptive.

Reproduction steps in text:
1. Make strokes with airbrush
2. Select Transform Tool and select Liquify mode.
3. Set Preview mode to Fast.
4. Hover cursor over airbrush area.

Also occurs when using the enclose-and-fill tool's brush enclosing method.
Comment 4 tomtomtomreportingin 2022-10-31 14:00:13 UTC
This doesn't only affect 5.2 anymore, so marking as a regression.

Possibly related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460577

It's gone in today's nightly build. I assume it's due to the fix for the bug 460577.
