All I can tell from the GIF is that you do not use Breeze or Breeze Dark icon set. Can you explain which icon set you use and why you use it? If your desktop environment allows to use a dark color scheme, it would be reasonable to expect that it provides a compatible icon set. Created attachment 151939 [details]

Which one of these settings do I change to make the icons visible? I've tried many different icon sets, and none of them change the icons that Okular uses at all.
Hmm, the problem seems to be that the Mint-Y-Dark-Red icon theme lacks many icons that Okular needs. Therefore icons from an icon theme that is optimized for light background seems to be used. If the Mint-Y-Dark-Red icon theme is selected, then it should switch to another dark icon theme as fallback. Not sure whether this is a problem of Mint or in Okular (resp. the underlying libraries) or a gap in the icon theme specification. @Ingo I see, thank you for explaining that to me. What can I do to help? Should I close this bug report? I guess you can always install the breeze-dark icon theme and use that? Where do I download it and is it possible to supplement my current icon set with it instead of replacing it? I really like these icons.
