Package: kicker
Version: KDE 3.0.2
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

Yesterday I went to the mall and decided to check out the new macs.

I think what I was working with was Mac OS 9 (or maybe 10 but I dont' recall exactly).

When you hover your mouse over the "kicker" panel of a mac the icons zoom in but in a much nicer way than KDE currently does right now. I think you will have to look at it yourself since I can't even begin to try to describe it in words.

It works something like: the icon zooms in but it zooms in very smoothly. Kind of like morphing from a small size to a big one.

Furthermore the surronding icons slightly zoom in as well. Think of it like a real magnifying glass on top of a paper (a real magnifying glass does not zoom in just on area---it zooms in the surroundings as well).

You can see a similar effect if you go to Configure Desktop... and turn on the Science screen saver in KDE. Remember the science screen saver moves a transparent circle like entity on your desktop. The circle like entity "zooms in" on the area on which the entity is. Now imagine that a similar entity hovers around on top of the icon on which you have your mouse cursor.

I would strongly recommend that you take a look at the Mac OS "kicker" panel in a store if you don't understand what I am talking about.

When I looked at it I immeidately fell in love with the feature.
