SUMMARY
***
A fresh flatpack installation of digikam on Ubuntu 22.04. I try to add directories in my home directory as collections. But all I can see in the file selection dialog is the Pictures folder. No other directories can be seen, even if there are some. The same behavior for the initialization process and in the regular Import Menu / Options Menu. I used digikam on a Mac before, there was no problem.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install digikam
2. Start digikam for the first time.
3. In the initialization process, try to add directories in the local home folder as collections. No directories are visible, only the Pictures folder

OBSERVED RESULT
Not possible to see directories on the local file systems.

EXPECTED RESULT
Ability to add local directories as collections

You are using Ubuntu Snap packages. Snap packages use a sandbox, you have no access outside of your user area. The Ubuntu Snap packages are useless for digiKam. Use our AppImage.

Yes, good hint! I'll try another installation method later. Thanks!

I have installed digikam via apt now. All works well - I'm happy! Thanks Maik!
