Description Alejandro 2022-08-09 13:04:50 UTC
This happens doing so outside the Reference Image tools.
When you do this, after showing the loading bar, it appears a text box that says: "this image" does not exist.
This doesn't happen when you "copy and paste".
I wonder if that has something to do with the clipboard.

Good luck!

I just tried this with an image from imgur and that worked. Which url did you try to D&D a reference image from?

DeviantArt, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest, Newgrounds, Pixiv, Tumblr and
Google Images.
This was an example of an image that failed to download:

My browser is google chrome, the last version, but it didn't work in
Microsoft Edge either.

Edge is Chrome, so it's logical they'd behave the same. I was testing with firefox -- and there it worked. When I tested with Chromium, nothing happened.

I don't know with Chromium, but I checked with Firefox and you are right,
it's working!
And it's interesting that it imports it as " .bmp " and not as " .jpg "
(like Krita tries to do when dragging and drop from Google Chrome).
Apparently, it's a "regular" Chrome problem from Windows.
(And, by the way, thanks so much for the fast replies!)

Thanks for your comment!

Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team
knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed.

In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information.

I know we've had problems with chrome before -- it heads the clipboard fragment with a broken html header. There is a bug report for that in Chrome's bugzilla, but at one point we had a workaround.

It looks like the bug is now fixed, either in Krita or in Chrome (or, most probably, in both). Please check nightly builds:
