Description Steve Allen 2022-08-08 15:16:34 UTC
SUMMARY

When windows are tiled and VLC is being used to play media, VLC resets its position every time a new media file (of a list) is played, and needs to be manually put back in place.

I have a workflow carried over from i3 using two tiled windows. The purpose of the workflow is to take notes in org-mode abut raw footage footage (rushes).

- VLC on one side;
- Emacs on the other

Sometimes I resize one or both to something resembling a 40:60 or 30:70 split.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open VLC and open multiple media files;
2. Open another window tiled next to it;
3. Press the "next" arrow in VLC, or allow the media to play out, and a new file be played

OBSERVED RESULT

VLC window changes position to maximised, or occasionally when manually resized, to a "snapped" position

EXPECTED RESULT

VLC window to stay where I put it.
