SUMMARY

Night color stopped activating on schedule as I had it set. I then tried to manually set it to always on, and all the available settings subsequently and none of them appear to work.

When adjusting the color temperature slider the screen does momentarily respond to the chosen value but immediately returns to the unaffected temperature and applying the new value produces no change.

The night color icon persists in my system tray and is always grayed out.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Activate night color with any activation time

OBSERVED RESULT
Night color does nothing

EXPECTED RESULT
Night color to effect screen temperature

Do you recall when this started happening? After an update, or just randomly?

What does `qdbus org.kde.KWin /ColorCorrect org.kde.kwin.ColorCorrect.inhibited` say?

I'm setting this to NEEDSINFO for now. I still suspect it's something inhibiting it — maybe we should indicate that in the applet.

If other things can inhibit Night Color, and we can know that programmatically, that sounds like a great idea to me.

We can know programmatically if Night Color is inhibited, but we can't know what inhibited it or why. Seems like an oversight in the protocol tbh. Later I'll try to add app name and reason arguments to the protocol, and fix all usages in KDE to match. By the way, does anything outside KDE use Night Color inhibition?

Now that I look at it, the applet does indicate inhibition.
